Impartiality Policy Statement

  1. Singapore Rope Access Association Limited., its Director, Managers, Staff and others involved in the Certification of Persons fully understand the importance of impartiality in undertaking its Personnel certification activities.
  2. Singapore Rope Access Association Limited. will therefore ensure that in its dealings with Candidates or potential Candidates, all employees or other personnel involved in Personnel certification activities are, and will remain, impartial.
  3. To ensure that impartiality is both maintained and can be demonstrated, Singapore Rope Access Association Limited. has identified and risk assessed all relationships which may result in a conflict of interest or pose a threat to impartiality.

SRAA is a Certification Body to ISO/IEC 17024:2012. Accredited by Singapore Accreditation Council. SAC Certificate of Accreditation, PC-2017-04.

With the formation of Singapore Rope Access Association Ltd (SRAA), a process was in place to certify rope access operative in Singapore and worldwide. SRAA membership comprises corporate members, individual members, associate members and oversea members. Individuals who meet the pre-requisite can enroll with our designated training facilities/examination centres operate by our corporate training members. Candidates who have successfully show competency during the examination will be certify as rope skill operative (3 different skill level) and be recognized internationally.

Fees: SGD $200.00 per person for Initial Examination / Certification / Re-certification. (excluding training conduct from training facility)


  • To ensure all rope access operative are up to date on the market best practices.
  • To have minimum 600 operatives certify per year.


Pre-Requisite for applicant;

  • All Rope Skill – Must have Work At Height Workers course
  • Must show proof of competency
  • Age requirement (18 above)
  • Undergo medical examination (recommended using SRAA version)
    • Either done by employer / self-sponsored prior to attending
    • Examination by GP
  • WSQ requirement for All Rope Skill.
    • WPL (English) – 3
    • WPN (Math) – 3
  • Weight requirement: TC to establish equipment limitation.


Scope of certification;

  • Basic Rope Skills. A rope access technician who has demonstrated competence in a basic range of rope access maneuvers.
  • Intermediate Rope Skills. A rope access technician who has gained experience and has demonstrated competence in a wider range of techniques, including rigging ropes and undertaking rescues.
  • Advanced Rope Skills. A rope access technician who is capable of complete responsibility for rope access safety in work projects; is able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required of Basic and Intermediate Rope Skill; is conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation; has an extensive knowledge of advanced rope access rigging and rescue techniques.

Assessment – Examinations are designed to assess competence based on, and consistent with the scheme, by written and practical, observational, or other reliable and objective means considering the type of certification. Mainly in case of certification of rope skill worker, the ability for donning harness and maneuver safely on ropes etc. is considered as a basic means for such certification including the required skill. The design of examination requirements ensures the comparability of results of each single examination, both in content and difficulty, including the validity of competent or not yet competent decision. All the data bank / questionnaire used in the examination are of based on the objective evidence and does not have any hypothetical means, to conclude the personnel certification at the end of exam.

Approval – On successful completion of the certification assessment, follow by review, approval, the certificate of award will be issued thereafter approval.

Continuing Assessment – The certificate is valid for 3 years subject to satisfactory maintenance of the current skill set. Work details and hours logs in log book verify by company or site supervisor, related training logs verify by training company or company manager to ensure that it continues to meet the requirements of the relevant standard and skill competency.

Certificate Revalidation – SRAA certificates shall be renewed within three years of the date of assessment. Revalidation consists of a full assessment at the level required

Appeals & Complaint – Anyone may appeals or complain to SRAA and will be made aware of the appeals process and is available to him on request as well as online.
